Watershed Education and Outreach

CCEDC’s Environment Program helps to build the long-term capacity of watershed organizations by developing and implementing stakeholder initiatives, facilitating meetings, conducting watershed surveys, providing GIS tools and maps, assisting with stream assessments and undertaking education campaigns.

Dutchess Watershed Awareness Month (WAM)

Dutchess Watershed Awareness Month is an annual series of educational and watershed awareness activities and events across Dutchess County including creek and watershed cleanups, guided nature walks, canoe and kayak trips, lectures, festivals and other events. In July 2009, numerous events took place in the towns of Hyde Park, Millbrook, Pawling, Pleasant Valley, Poughkeepsie, Union Vale, Dover, the Village of Wappingers Falls and Cities of Beacon and Poughkeepsie.

WAM would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors and the help of many local partnering agencies. For more information about WAM or to help us plan for WAM 2010 visit the WAM website or contact Carolyn at (845) 677-8223, ext. 135.

Dutchess Watersheds Website

CCEDC partnered with Vassar College’s ERI to create an interactive, multi-media website for the watersheds of Dutchess County. On this site, you will find information on community events, watershed facts and research data, and multimedia materials for education.
