Relatives As Parents Program Safety Awareness Day
Relatives raising children receive CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.

Millbrook, NY, March 13, 2014: Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County (CCEDC) Relatives As Parents Program (RAPP) delivers education and support to address the many needs of kinship families. RAPP provides monthly support groups, youth activities, parenting workshops, referrals to appropriate community based services, intergenerational activities and respite events. A Safety Awareness Day will be implemented on May 3, 2014 at the Farm and Home Center in Millbrook for relatives raising children. This training is designed to prepare kinship families for emergency situations. Adults and youth (ages 12 and up) will receive CPR/First Aid/AED training and certification approved by the American Heart Association and youth (ages 5 to 11) will learn emergency preparedness and environmental education with assistance from the CCEDC No Child Left Inside teens and 4-H Teen Ambassadors. The program is free of charge to grandparents and other relatives raising children. Advance registration is required. Lunch and beverages will be provided for all program participants.
